Even by conservative estimates there are over 100,000 avoidable deaths in US hospitals every year.
But the problems with healthcare go beyond medical error. We are firmly in the era of fake and political medical science.
“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine,” says Dr. Marcia Angell.
A recent example of this was an article in Lancet that proved Hydroxychloroquine to be neither safe nor effective – the article was retracted because the researchers would not let anyone review the data.
While Hydroxychloroquine is prevented from being used to treat Covid-19 (despite a decades-long safety record) drugs such as Vioxx pass FDA approval and are pulled only after profits are made and thousands are killed.
